The world-famous Marlborough Sounds are best explored by water - choose from a selection of cruises, hire a kayak, or go sailing on a luxury yacht. While you're by the water, don't forget to try fishing, diving, or swimming with the dolphins.   Back on land, there are plenty of walking tracks to explore - whether you're a beginner or hiking expert. The Queen Charlotte Track is a popular choice with hiking enthusiasts from all over the world.

The waterways and hiking tracks are just the beginning of what Marlborough has to offer; read on to discover more attractions you can enjoy on your next luxury weekend getaway!

The River Queen

Enjoy a trip on Marlborough's River Queen - a fully licensed, catered cruise boat. Cruise the Opawa River out of Blenheim towards Cloudy Bay, where you can explore Marlborough's wine country. Choose from a lunchtime cruise, a late afternoon cruise with pre-dinner snacks and nibbles, or a leisurely lunch cruise and wine tour.

Explore Picton

This old European settlement is as picturesque as it is peaceful. While you're there, make sure you visit the art and craft galleries, enjoy water activities, learn about the cultural history, or explore on foot to take in the beautiful architecture and natural landscape.

Explore Havelock

Once a thriving gold-mining town, Havelock is now known as the green shell mussel capital of the world, and the gateway to the Pelorous Sound and Kenepuru Sounds. Havelock is a great place to go snapper fishing, explore historical landmarks, go hiking, and of course enjoy the local delicacy - green-lipped mussels!

High Country Horse Treks

Just 11 km outside of Blenheim you'll find High Country Horse Treks, where you can explore 52 hectares of farmland on one of 28 New Zealand Standardbreds. Treks are suitable for all ages and range from 1 to 4.5 hours.

Millennium Art Gallery

Located in the centre of Blenheim, the famous Millennium Art Gallery is home to a range of high quality paintings, sculptures, weavings, photographs and art exhibitions. Artworks will vary throughout the year, so check their website to see what they currently have on display.

Marlborough Museum

Located at Brayshaw Heritage Park in Blenheim, Marlborough Museum houses a wide collection of textiles, historic photographs, videos, film, artefacts and objects. While you're there, explore the rest of Brayshaw Park to admire vintage cars, vintage machinery, and Beavertown - a replica township. Marlborough is well known all over the world as the place to enjoy the very best of New Zealand wine and cuisine. Just a few of the local specialties include fresh seafood, New Zealand lamb, and of course the world-famous Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

The Restaurant  at Hotel D'Urville offers all these specialties and more; book your accommodation at the Hotel D'Urville or take advantage of the wonderful weekend packages to enjoy your Marlborough luxury getaway in comfort and style.
