Located on Aerodrome Road just a few minutes from the centre of Blenheim, Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre opens daily from 10am-4pm with an amazing collection of original and replica Great War aircraft exhibits. Brought to life by the creative geniuses behind Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson, Wingnut Films and Weta Workshop) this heritage centre houses a series of dioramas depicting dramatic wartime scenes like the death of Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron. Enjoy interactive exhibits, replicas and photographic displays
In the Omaka Aviation Heritage museum theatre, you can watch stories, recreations and historical reenactments from the Great War. Or, you can browse stunning photographic displays, see a range of beautifully crafted 'trench art', and get up-close with full-size replicas and real examples of rare wartime planes including the Caproni CA.22, the Fokker Dr.1 'Triplane', the Breguet 14 A2 and the Morane-Saulnier TYPE BB.
The Classic Wings Vintage Aeroplane Rides
With the recent establishment of a vintage flights operation base at Omaka Airfield, now visitors to Blenheim can enjoy a ride in a real Boeing Stearman. With three seats available so couples can travel together in the front cockpit, the flight offers the opportunity to enjoy a great view of the stunning Marlborough scenery and landmarks. This truly unique aviation experience is not to be missed!
